Eu Sou Clássica.

In one of my very first weeks here we had an appointment with a whole bunch of people from Fortaleza. Just a note: people from there are crazy.

I had only a vague idea what was going on (the new norm.) They wanted to feed us dinner afterwords. they were all joking around and throwing out crazy comments that only make sense in the nordeste (North east of Brazil) I just sat there trying to look like I felt. Mom always taught me to sit up straight and keep a pleasant look on your face no matter what. (Thanks mom) So there I was sitting around the table and with 3 other missionaries and 3-5 people from Fortaleza. (I'm not even going to group them in with the rest of Brazil, they are their own country... kind of like Alabama or Kentucky) One of them passes me the soda and fills my glass expecting me to eat all that is on my plate and down this in a moment. I say thank you and drink what I can. I'm not used to soda at this point, I always drank water or juice in the states. my stomach starts to rumble a little bit but I stay calm... the jokester starts talking about how each of us are so different. You have Sister Sousa who's right at home because she herself is from Fortaleza also and then Sister Calder the other American newbie is trying to ask all types of questions about what does this or that mean, then Sister Przybyla who is kind of blending in with the crowd as well laughing at the jokes but then he got to me and paused... But then we have Sister Robson who is Elegante and Classica... Before he could get the next word out the rumbling in my stomach stopped and up came the most un-lady-like burp I have ever done. Luckily I still had my since of composure (and humor) and as though it never happened and without missing a beat I simply said Obrigada. (thank you)

Yes... I now and forever have a nickname.

It's been really fun to get to know them all. One I've already talked about. Cicero! (sisero) He got baptized about two weeks ago and it was amazing! We got all ready for the service but we got a phone call from our Ward mission leader saying that there wasn't any water in the chapel so... to the beach it is! it was wonderful. Every time someone makes that decision it really is a miracle in their own lives. To think that out of all the people in that city, he was the cleanest. it's pretty awesome.

This week we are opening up a new area about an hour away as well as working here in Balneário Camboriú and I'm getting a new companion... Guess where she's from?!

Fortaleeeeza.

Sempre Classica.
(always Classy)
