PLAY!

Hey everyone!

Seeing as how yesterday was mother's day we get to call home to our families last night. It was really great to be able to talk to the whole crew. I promised to show some pictures today but because we are at a random Internet place the jack won't except my card reader... So better luck next week.

We just got the news that I'll be getting a new companion next week. I'm pretty sad about that just because Sister Przybyla and I get along so well. Here's a funny thing: When we first got here to pass the time as we walked she would have me sing for her. just some of the random songs that I could remember from way back when, but she used me as her own personal radio. we would be walking around and she would randomly tag my shoulder and say "PLAY!" It became a pattern that most of the other sisters would follow. some of the most common requests are Hey soul sister -train and Taylor Swift's Love Story... (I'm a little behind I'm sure but they don't know her here so that's all I got.) It became standard that I would open and close just about every message or lesson with a song as well. I didn't really mind. unlike actually speaking, singing is something I could do. Well we make friends all around and there was a couple in the ward that was getting married and asked me to sing at the wedding. I wasn't about to try and learn a song in Portuguese to sing at it, it's been far to long to do that (Rule one of performing: Don't risk sucking!) so they said I could sing it in English. The problem there again is that I don't have or remember anything to sing again. I looked at what I had on my ipod I was thinking I could plug in and play with me and I had one song in mind but then when we got there and actually saw the set up and then they told me what they wanted me to do. "Sing in the middle of this outdoor pavilion while she gets out of the car and then stop when she gets to this other random spot with just a mic." I'm not sure what I was expecting but that wasn't it. What I had planned no longer worked for the situation so what do i do? -Stick with the standards. Love Story it is!

If you were to ask me, I felt like it wasn't one of the highlights of the year but my fears of sucking where diminished by these few truths:
1.it's in English so only two people other than my companions would understand and
2.It's what's been playing in my head for the past 5 weeks so it was easily malleable to keep within the points of the Brazilian waving her hand to start and then stop.

It was a fun experience to go to a wedding here of someone who is already baptized.  ;)

Hope all is going well with everyone that I didn't get to talk to last night! Love you all!
-Chelsea
