This has been a great week. My new Companion is Sister F Santos. She is great. The other new missionary in the house is Sister T Santos. The whole day that we were waiting for them to come sister Calder and I were singing "oh when the saints come marching in..."
Sister F Santos and I have started working over in a city called Itapema. It's about 45 mins away by bus ride. It's a beautiful city. It's very tranquil and low key compared to Balneário Camboriú. --But that's not the reason we love going there. You see it's the bus that is magic. Every time we get on the bus to or from we always meet someone we can work with. Our first day we got on the bus a woman sat next to me and I started talking to her in my limited Portuguese. She seemed really down and started talking about a problem that she was having with her identification card. I of course had no idea what she was talking about but then she said "I know your church. I've been there before" I asked if she was a member and she answered "not yet." She told me about some of the problems in her life and and that she lived in Itapema but came to Balneário everyday for work. She had only been living there for a few months. I asked if we could come over and she accepted. We got off the bus and just walked strait over to her house. We talked to her for a little bit and then her neighbor and two kids came over as well. We left a blessing with them and set a time to come back in a few days. When we returned the woman had a completely different attitude and stared talking about how she has seen the blessing in her life already. The neighbor also said that her kids always fight but since we came over they hadn't fought at all. It was really nice. We taught about the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and they all accepted it and wanted to be baptized. The neighbor was there with her boyfriend and when we told them that they needed to get married he got all excited and mushy saying how he wanted to but that she hadn't accepted yet. We told them to pray about it and we will wait for them to come to church next week. Things like that happen every time we get on that bus. SOMEONE always talks to us. If I had it my way I'd just become like those hobos "riding the rails" all day long. It gets expensive so we don't do that but it would be cool.
The language is coming here and there and I have faith that it will improve even more so in case you are worrying you can stop. It mostly comes and goes for comedic timing. --you know, to keep my pride in check. Stay Humble, people... it's just easier that way.
Love you all! Stay safe!
