It Never Ends (post from 7-4-11)

I'm sitting in a little Internet house just around the corner from our house. My hands are cold because I had to take off my gloves in order to type. Today is the first day of sun in about a week but because of all the rain that just means that it's colder. I almost didn't leave the house because I was so comfortable in my sweats. At least my new coat is warm (and stylish... bonus!) There's a young Japanese woman sitting behind the counter talking to young man in a language that I have to stop and think in order to ease drop... It's just computer talk... aka not worth the effort. If they only knew what day it was today! On the other side of the world it's hotter than Haites and they have streamers (always classy) and banners of Red, White and Blue strung across the streets! HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE! Oh, I miss the heat. It's turning out to be the longest winter of my life. As much I complain, however, Life's all good when you have another story to tell. :)

I want to tell you about John. Or the Portuguese equivolent João. He started coming back to church about the time that I got here. He still has some problems with smoking and such to over-come but little by little he's getting there. One day he was talking to an old friend named Everson who was a member but hadn't been to church since he was in his teens about 10 years ago. He's married now (legitimately) and between the two of them, Everson and his wife have 4 kids. John told him he should come back to church. Everson decided he would and brought his wife. We first met them that day at church. We went to thier house that week. (side note: on one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet.) We talked to them and became fast friends. We taught them about the Plan of Salvation. We knew how much they loved each other and as we talked they got closer and closer.

This week She was baptised and also have to goal to go to the temple one year from now.

I love my family, I love my country, and I love this work.

Until next week, (hope I don't freeze!)

-Chelsea
